How Do I Get Out of a Bogus Car Loan?

I bought a Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer edition SUV two years ago. I have no idea how I missed the current balance, but what started as a 15k loan, after paying a total of 10k two years later, I apparently still owe 13.5k. They claim the majority went to interest…blah..blah..blah. I am totally floored and am extremely dissatisfied. My payments look good on my credit report, and I would like to continue to improve my score, but I cannot go on like this at all! I need a lower car note, if any at all. I don’t know the best way to get out of it. I would like a new truck, with a cheaper note, and to remove most to all of the balance. I know trucks are cheaper now with the market, but what should/can I do?

Mechanic ?: RE: 91 Ford Explorer 4.0 4×4 and how can I tell if ‘ignition switch’ is bad (see details)?

I need help/advise from a Mechanic PLEASE???? OK, I have a 91 Ford Explorer 4.0 4×4 and it wont start. It will turn over but has no spark or gas coming thru line. We thought it may have been the fuel pump and had a ‘mobile mechanic’ come over to the house this afternoon. He seems to believe that it could be the ‘ignition switch’ causing the problem. He didn’t bring all his ‘testers, etc.’ but took it apart and tried to start it (as if stealing it) but it still would not start. By the way, when it was running, we did have problems on 2 occasions with it not starting, but then were able to start it OK and never thought nothing of it. Also, the key although it seems to work/fit in the ignition, does not work on any of the doors, if that is any help or has anything to do with anything. So I would like some advise on ’symptoms of a bad ignition switch’ from all you smart mechanics out there because this ‘mobile mechanic’ is coming back tomorrow with his tester which he said has ‘extra ?power? or something that might help it start? What do you guys think? (There is at least 5 gallons of gas in it, it turns over, no spark, no fuel coming thru lines and no noise coming from gas tank when key turned part way, without actually trying to start)
PS: the mobile mechanic did check and it was getting ‘NO’ fuel pressure and we checked all fuses, inside the SUV and under the hood, even jiggling that one fuse under the hood ‘the fuel ? fuse’ and it still wouldn’t work.
More detail after reading some answers: *We did listen at gas cap for noise but did NOT hear any noise at all with key turned 1/2 way*
*Also, I have a 91 Explorer, so my key does NOT have a chip & I read 91’s didn’t come with alarms. ‘Unless, one of
the prior owners put one in, if so where would I look & what does it look like?
Also, when I do try to start the dash lights do come on with my key!
*No I have no codes* ‘I will look up info on the internet regarding where/what
/etc. the ‘Distributer Pickup’ is & how to test it & also look up the ‘TFI Module’ & how to test that, & look up ‘What the ‘Spout’ is and how to disconnect it! *However, I am only on SSDI, so I will try all else and then go to: IATN.net and find a driveability ASE L1 certified pro near me and pay the tow charge as a last resort.
****Another ?, back to when my neighbor thought it may be fuel pump at first, with all the above mentioned symptoms, does that sound possible? Thank you mechanics

What do flashing 4wd lights mean?

I just recently bought a 2006 ford explorer, 52000. xlt.

When i pres 4wd high, it kicks in. But when I press 4wd low, it just flashes teh light several times but never lights up the light on the dash. After about 10 seconds the light just stops flashing.

Is there something I am doing wrong or is something wrong with the transfer case?

There are lights on the dash that indicate when it has engaged. When i press 4wd high, the light lights up for 4wd high. When I press low, the 4wd low light does NOT light up.

Also, I bought it used from a dealer..and they said they dont provide manuels. So i ordered one but its gonna be a little until I get one in.
I come to a complete stop no matter what.

Before this I had a 99 ram 1500..where u had to stop and put it in neutral for low and high. So naturally I do that now.

And i dont go above 20 in 4wd low.

Should I get rid of my current car to buy this used car? Mazda vs. Ford?

My friend is selling their Ford Explorer 96′ for $400 dollars. It has roughly 96,000 miles on it. It is a gas guzzler and has few minor problems….He took it to a mechanic and really nothing major is wrong with the car (at least for now ;) Anyway, I own a Mazda Protege 99′ with about 215,000 miles on it and it sounds like it has major problems. I need new brakes, may need new calipers, I know a ball joint is out in the front right and god knows what else (sounds like the bottom will fall out every time I go over a bump), check engine light is on, and I hear a belt squeaking that I know will need replacing. I would take my car into a mechanic, but have to make a quick decision whether or not I want to buy the Ford. My friend has someone else very intersted and he needs the money asap to get his new car to pay for title transfer, etc. Normally, I would take my car in and get an estimate, then base the decision off of that…but again, lack of time. In your personal opinion, what sounds like my best options?

Now she has a few ouchies on the exterior and needs a lot of TLC on the inside. Zilla needs a day at the spa and a makeover! Her grey interior, once spotless is now littered with Cheerios, Goldfish crackers, empty sippy cups and an endless supply of pacifiers. 91 ford explorer overheating issues(why)?

my car has been overheating as i drive,i have gotten a new radiator and replaced the thermostat twice,i have checked hosees for leaks.
my water pump is not leaking any water and my fan spins….

my recent overheat boiled over in the overflow tank and smoked which cause all coolant to explode out to the ground,since then when driving my engine now smokes from the engine oil tank..not bad but enough to draw concern.
whats could be the problem???i am so lost
